3 Tips for The Power of Positive Thinking

Today I would like to talk about the power of positive thinking. How are we supposed to be positive and how do we stay positive? If you have negative thoughts, problems, or difficult situations in your life, how can you be positive? Today I would like to offer three simple things you can do to stay positive and attract positive things in your life.

“Things have a way of working themselves out if we just remain positive.”

Lou Holt

The power of positive thinking tip 1: Filter everything you hear in your life.

Are you listening to happy music or sad? How about a hard life? Are you listening to happy radio stations, or you are listening to the news where it’s death, doom, and gloom? What information are you listening to? Try to filter that information because if you are listening to sad music, and you are singing the lyrics, your brain gets used to these negative thoughts. You get used to these negative phrases. You are hearing negative thoughts all the time listening to the news or singing lyrics to sad songs. It’s going to be hard for you to stay positive.

“I believe one of my strengths is my ability to keep negative thoughts out. I am an optimist.”

John Wooden

The power of positive thinking tip 2: Filter everything you see.

When you are on Facebook or watching TV, is it all negative? Are the movies you watch about motivational success stories or difficult situations in life? Many movies are about life struggles, sadness, all the problems and issues that people have to overcome. It looks easy in the movies, but in real life, it’s different. So if you are watching negative information or watching sad stories, you train your brain to focus on those negative things in life. If you want to be a positive person, start filtering the information you see.

“Be positive. Your mind is more powerful than you think. What is down in the well comes up in the bucket. Fill yourself with positive things.”

Tony Dungy
The power of positivity tip 3: Filter everything you say.

When you talk to your friends, do you tell sad stories or complain about your life? Are you are a happy person or a happy friend? Do you see the positive side in a situation or the negative? Your friends can give you feedback about this. When you’re going to filter everything you say, you might notice you are using a lot of negative words and phrases. Start rephrasing your sentences and using positive words.

“Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.”

Mary Lou Retton

Getting rid of all the negative thoughts we hear, see, and say, will have a huge impact on our lives. It might not be easy, but it will be worth it. I leave you with words of wisdom from one of the great ones, Norman Vincent Peale. Stay positive my friends!

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”  “Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only the best, be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.” “I truly believe that if we keep telling the Christmas story, singing the Christmas songs, and living the Christmas spirit, we can bring joy and happiness and peace to this world.”

Norman Vincent Peale
